Mumbai: Actor-filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, whose name has been doing the rounds in the infamous Epstein files, refuted his involvement, stating that he has never been to Beijing in his life.
In the Epstein Files, consisting of documents, pictures and videos related to criminal activities of convicted sex offender, late Jeffrey Epstein, numerous high-profile names have cropped up.
Anurag’s name was also mentioned in one of the unverified documents, which referred to him as the ‘Bollywood guy’ and ‘a Famous Bollywood director’, who was invited to attend an event connected to Epstein, scheduled to be held in Beijing in 2017.
However, the filmmaker denied any connection with Epstein.
“I’ve no clue about this. I get invitations as a speaker, about 15 a month. I rarely respond. Also, I have never been to Beijing in my life!” Hindustan Times quoted the filmmaker as saying.
Adding that the nature of the documents itself isn’t convincing, the filmmaker said, “It’s some random email, that’s self-explanatory. The click baits in my name are more popular than my films.”
Even tech tycoon Bill Gates had to clarify in an interview that he ‘regrets’ all contacts he had with Epstein after his name surfaced in the Epstein Files.
