Rourkela: A tea stall owner was stabbed to death by masked assailants near the busy Rourkela Junction Railway Station in Odisha’s Sundergarh district.
The shocking incident, which occurred around 11 pm on Friday, has triggered panic in the locality and prompted an intensive police probe. The victim has been identified as Abinash Yadav.
According to eyewitnesses, 3–4 masked miscreants arrived on a bike and attacked Abinash with sharp weapons following a heated verbal altercation. The attackers fled immediately after the assault, leaving the tea seller critically injured. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Abinash succumbed to his injuries.
Police said a case has been registered and multiple teams are investigating the murder. CCTV footage from the railway station and surrounding areas is being examined to identify the culprits. Plantside police have detained 3–4 suspects for questioning, as senior officers probe whether the attack was linked to gang rivalry or personal enmity. Scientific and forensic teams have visited the site of the murder to gather clues.
Family members revealed that Abinash was set to get married on June 19, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking.
