New Delhi: As many as 88 countries and international organisations endorsed the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact as the AI Impact Summit 2026 concluded here on Friday.
The US, UK, China, France and Russia were among the leading nations which signed the New Delhi Declaration, calling for an emphasis on national sovereignty, making AI accessible and strengthening international cooperation to ensure that benefits of Artificial Intelligence must be equitably shared, a government statement said on Saturday.
The landmark declaration, on the principle of ‘Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya’ — Welfare for all, Happiness for all — underscores that the benefits of AI must be equitably shared across humanity.
The declaration is structured around seven key pillars — democratising AI resources, economic growth and social good, secure and trusted AI, AI for science, access for social empowerment, human capital development, and resilient, efficient and innovative AI systems.
“The AI Impact Summit 2026, held in New Delhi on 18-19 February, concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact, marking a significant milestone in global cooperation on artificial intelligence. The declaration has been endorsed by 88 countries and international organisations, reflecting a broad-based global consensus on leveraging AI for economic growth and social good,” the official release said.
The summit is expected to catalyse long-term international partnerships and position AI as a key driver of economic growth.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw hailed the summit for its “grand success”.
He claimed India had secured investment commitments of over $250 billion in infrastructure.
