Bhubaneswar: Odisha has begun preparations for the two-day official visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state, beginning March 5.
According to official sources, Shah will arrive in the state on the evening of March 5 in a special Indian Air Force aircraft from New Delhi. He will attend the Foundation Day celebrations of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Mundali in Cuttack district the following day. The event marks an important occasion for the paramilitary force responsible for securing critical infrastructure across the country.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister will head to Jatni in Khurda district to lay the foundation stone for the Bhubaneswar campuses of National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). He is also expected to virtually inaugurate the NFSU’s transit campus in Bhubaneswar, a move aimed at strengthening forensic education and investigation capabilities in the region.
Later that day, Shah will inaugurate an exhibition on ‘Nabin Nyaya Sanhita’ at the Idco Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, which intends to educate people on the new laws introduced by the Centre to modernise and strengthen the criminal justice system.
Additionally, he will lay foundation stones and inaugurate multiple projects linked to the Cooperation department and other state initiatives.
On Thursday, Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level review meeting to finalise the arrangements. Discussions covered Shah’s detailed schedule, security protocols, traffic management, route planning, and venue logistics. Special emphasis has been placed on road improvements, including black-topping from Godisahi to Mundali, along with enhanced street lighting, sanitation, cleanliness drives, and beautification efforts around the CISF event site.
Officials have been instructed to maintain close inter-departmental coordination to ensure the visit proceeds smoothly.
