Bhubaneswar: Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the Commissionerate Police across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to ensure a safe and peaceful Holi celebration.
A stern warning has been issued against drunk driving and any form of public misconduct during the festival of colours.
As many as 30 platoons of police personnel will be deployed at key locations across the Twin Cities to maintain law and order during Holy revelry, according to Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh.
The security arrangements will be closely monitored by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), four Additional DCPs and eight officers of SP rank.
To keep a constant vigil, 17 mobile patrol teams will be stationed across the cities, particularly in sensitive and high-footfall areas. Special drives against drink-driving will be conducted at 85 checkpoints, and police have made it clear that violators will face strict action, including vehicle seizure and detention.
Teams of Fire Service and ODRAF will also be deployed at 10 bathing ghats and riverbanks to prevent any untoward incidents during the festivities. Additionally, four dedicated striking teams will remain on standby to respond swiftly to emergencies.
Police Commissioner Singh said that the same protocols implemented during last year’s Holi will be enforced again to maintain peace and discipline.
Appealing to citizens to celebrate the festival responsibly, he said, “Holi is a festival of joy and harmony. We urge everyone to refrain from any act that may disrupt peace or lead to legal action.”
Police have also cautioned against the use of harmful chemical colours and informed that all Holi-related events will be closely monitored to prevent disorder.
