Bhubaneswar: As escalating West Asia tensions pushed up LPG prices across the country by Rs 60 for domestic cylinders, consumers in Odisha will also have to bear additional burden from Saturday.
Following the upward revision, the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Bhubaneswar has increased to Rs 939.
In Delhi, the rate has gone up from Rs 853 to Rs 913, while in Mumbai it has risen from Rs 852.50 to Rs 912.50. In Kolkata, the price has increased from Rs 879 to Rs 930, and in Chennai it has climbed from Rs 868.50 to Rs 928.50.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Also Increased and the cost of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 115.
This is the second hike in 11 months since April last year. However, Ujjwala Yojana’s 10 crore beneficiaries will continue to avail a ₹300 subsidy per 14.2-kg cylinder for 12 refills yearly — easing economic pressure on low-income families.
Industry sources link the rise to West Asia conflict-triggered global spikes, noting India’s LPG remains the most affordable for millions of consumers in the region.
The price revision comes amid concerns over global crude oil prices and tensions in West Asia, which have raised worries about potential disruptions in energy supply.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri reassured consumers that India’s fuel supply remains stable.
“Our priority is to ensure the availability of affordable and sustainable fuel for our citizens. There is no shortage of energy in India, and there is no cause for worry for consumers,” Puri said in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) dismissed rumours circulating on social media about a shortage of petrol and diesel, calling them baseless and assuring that fuel stocks remain adequate.
