Tehran: Amid the war, Iran is facing internal protest after Masoud Pezeshkian, its president, vowed not to attack the Gulf states. He was compelled to change his remark. His office responded again by stating that the military would respond to the attacks from US firmly.
His previous apology had upset the Revolutionary Guards. Hardline cleric, Hamid Rasai, who is also a lawmaker, said the president’s opinion was weak. He said it could not be accepted.
A former Revolutionary Guards commander reacted in the same way.
Mohseni-Ejei, who is a member of the council that has powers of the supreme leader, said that territories of some countries were being used to strike Iran. Ejei, the also the chief of judiciary, said retaliatory strikes would not stop.
The Revolutionary Guards also said they had attacked a US air combat centre near Abu Dhabi amid the ongoing unrest over the statement.
