Khurda: Two persons died and four others were critically injured after a car crashed into an auto rickshaw at Jatni in Odisha’s Khurda district on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred on National Highway 16 near National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER).
According to sources, the car was speeding when it rammed into the auto rickshaw. The driver and one passenger of the three-wheeler died while four others sustained critical injuries as the vehicle was badly damaged under the impact of the crash. Locals informed Jatni police, who arrived on the spot and rushed the injured to the district headquarters hospitals here for treatment.
While the passengers’ identities are yet to be confirmed, they are believed to be residents of Delang in Puri district, given that the auto was travelling towards that area.
Police have seized both vehicles and begun an investigation into the accident.
