Washington: In what is being seen as an action by the US to ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the US military claimed to have struck Iranian missile sites near the waterway.
The country has claimed that it had used some of its most powerful bombs. The US Central Command declared on social media that it had fired multiple 5000 pound penetrator bombs on the Iranian targets along the coastline near Hormuz.
“…..The Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles in these sites posed a risk to international shipping in the strait,” the Command wrote on X.
The bombing raid comes after Iran closed off the Strait, through which major portion of the world’s supply oil flows.
US Allies Junk Trump’s Call
The move came after many of the US allies, including NATO, rejected President Donald Trump’s call to help secure the Strait of Hormuz. Trump had insisted he was conducting the war for the good of the world.
He was angry that the US was not getting support from its allies despite it having helped NATO. He claimed that it was in the allies’ interest to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.
