Cuttack: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Odisha government, has completed a major infrastructure upgrade in Cuttack by shifting Extra High Tension (EHT) towers, bolstering the city’s power distribution network.
According to a company release, it involved commissioning of two 33 kV 4-way Ring Main Units (RMUs) and laying 10.5 km of underground cabling to enhance the reliability and resilience of the power network.
“The project was executed keeping in view the growing demand for reliable electricity in key parts of the city and to support important infrastructure development. The upgraded system will ensure uninterrupted and stable power supply to major institutions including SCB Medical College and Hospital, Ravenshaw University, National Law University Odisha and Cuttack railway station,” it said.
Around 7,000 electricity consumers in localities such as Tulasipur, Jobra, College Square, and Ranihat will directly benefit from the infrastructure upgrade. “With the commissioning of the new RMUs and underground cable network, consumers in these localities will experience improved reliability of power supply and better service continuity,” it added.
