Mumbai: Properties belonging to gangster Dawood Ibrahim in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri has finally found a taker. After four unsuccessful auctions, the plots that he had inherited from his forefathers now have a buyer.

The bidding was conducted by the govt on March 5. According to reports, a buyer from Mumbai placed the highest bid for one of the plots at the auction.

According to reports, these lands were registered in the name of his mother. The authorities have not revealed the identity of the bidders. But the buyer had pitched Rs 10 lakh for one of the lands, against its reserve price of Rs 9.41L. Another bidder from the district had also taken part in the auction for this land.

In the previous auctions, no bidder had taken part.  In November last year, despite a reduction of about 30%  in the price, no bidder showed interest. People avoided these properties due to their association with the name of Dawood. People also didn’t opt for these lands as they were in distant locations and could be used for farming only.

In 2001, Delhi lawyer Ajay Shrivastav had bought two of his properties in Mumbai’s Nagpada. However, he was yet to get its possession. The matter is sub-judice.

In 2020, he acquired Dawood’s ancestral bungalow. He had placed a bid of Rs 2.01 crore for a plot in 2024. But the deal was cancelled as it had payment dues.

Dawood Ibrahim is India’s most wanted gangster. He was linked to the 1993 Mumbai bombings.
