Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Ram Navami on March 27, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Tuesday directed police to ensure smoother and peaceful celebration of the festival across the state.
Chairing a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, the Chief Minister emphasised on wide-scale police deployment and proper management, similar to 2025, to maintain law and order. “Ram Navami, the birth anniversary of Lord Ram, is celebrated with immense devotion and reverence across the country. It is the responsibility of the police administration to ensure devotees and faithful in Odisha can observe this spiritual festival without any hindrance, in a completely peaceful manner,” he said.
Majhi stressed that everyone should be able to celebrate the festival without any trouble.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Advisor to the Chief Minister’s Office Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, Director General of Police Y B Khurania, Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, Intelligence Director R P Koche, and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S D Singh, among others.
The government has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the administration ensuring that the sacred festival of Ram Navami is celebrated in an atmosphere of harmony and devotion.
On Monday, a peace and coordination committee meeting was held in Sambalpur to ensure smooth and incident-free celebrations of Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti across the district. The meeting, chaired by Collector Siddheshwar Baliram, was attended by IG (Northern Range) Himanshu Kumar Lal and Sambalpur SP Mukesh Bhamoo, among others. Security would be tightened across the city with at least 25 platoons of police force deployed on the procession route, along with CCTV cameras and drone surveillance. Additionally, flag marches will be conducted to maintain law and order, Lal said.
