Bhubaneswar: Fire Services personnel rescued two persons, who were trapped inside an elevator of the apartment building during a fire incident in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
According to sources, a fire broke out at Badshah apartment at Srivihar area of Chandrasekharpur, filling the lift with thick smoke and trapping the two occupants. Residents of the multi-storey apartment building immediately alerted the Fire Services, whose teams rushed to the spot, brought the blaze under control, and safely rescued the trapped individuals.
No injuries were reported among the rescued persons or other residents, and firefighters prevented the flames from spreading further through the building, which houses multiple families.
Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation, with preliminary findings pointing to an electrical short circuit, a common risk during summer months due to overload because of overuse of electricity.
