Balangir: A newly-married woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a village in Tusura area of Odisha’s Balangir district on Saturday.
As per information, the incident took place at Mahipur village under the jurisdiction of Tusura police station in the district.
Following the incident, family members of the woman alleged foul play and claimed that she was murdered.
The deceased, identified as Anupama Mahanand of Bagbhadi village in Balangir, was married around ten months ago to Maidantu Mahanand of Mahipur as per traditional Vedic rituals.
Her family members stated that Anupama’s in-laws took her to the Community Health Center (CHC) at Deogaon on Friday night, claiming that she was unwell. However, doctors declared her dead when she arrived at the hospital.
Her family alleged that she was strangled to death. Based on a complaint lodged by Anupama’s parents, Tusura police detained three persons for questioning. The police have seized the body and are conducting a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death.
