Mumbai: The Dubai schedule of ‘King’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has been cancelled due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict. The makers have reportedly shifted the shoot to Mumbai.
“The team had procured the necessary permissions to shoot in the emirate. It was supposed to be a week-long schedule from April 9. But given the dynamic situation in the region, the makers decided not to take any risk with the cast and crew’s safety,” a source was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.
The report further stated that following the change in plans, the makers are constructing a grand new set at a studio in Mumbai’s Vile Parle to ensure better control and safety.
“They’ve gone all out to match the scale that Siddharth (Anand) envisioned for the set-piece. In fact, this gives them more control over action beats and lighting. The sequence begins with a chase, resulting in an intense combat,” the source added.
Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, ‘King’ marks Shah Rukh’s first on-screen collaboration with his daughter Suhana Khan.
The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma, and Raghav Juyal in key roles.
Earlier, at the Locarno Film Festival, Shah Rukh opened up about the film. “It is an action drama; it’s a Hindi film. It’ll be interesting. I’ve been wanting to do a film like that for some time, and I really wanted to do a film like this for seven, eight years. We just felt Sujoy would be the right choice because we wanted it to be very emotionally correct. We are all coming together to make a cool, massy, action, emotional film.”
