Mumbai: Global icon Priyanka Chopra gave a shoutout to brother-in-law Raghav Chadha after he was removed as Aam Aadmi Party’s deputy leader in Rajya Sabha.
Raghav, who is married to Priyanka’s cousin Parineeti Chopra, hit back at the is demotion, saying he is “silenced, not defeated.” He also shared a video with a montage of clips showing him highlighting the public concerns he had raised in Parliament.
From the gap between education and jobs to “One Nation, One Medical Treatment,” and from wage indexation to demanding a Bharat Ratna for Bhagat Singh, Raghav combined his points into a reel and shared it on Instagram.
The clip was shared with only an Indian flag emoji, hinting at a subtle yet strong message amid the growing political row.
Showing support for Raghav, Priyanka took to the comments section to cheer for him with heart eyes, applause and clap emoticons.
Earlier, Disha Patani’s sister Khushboo also came out in support of Raghav, saying she believes he will form his own party in the near future.
“We would all want to join you because you want to work for the country,” she added.
AAP removed Raghav as the party’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, and replaced him with industrialist-turned-lawmaker Ashok Mittal.
Tension had been growing in recent months as Raghav stayed away from key party events and did not react much to court relief granted to top AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. Questions were asked about his role and whether he disagreed with the party’s strategy.
Raghav said he was focused on raising public issues in Parliament, but AAP leaders accused him of doing “soft PR” instead of taking part in bigger political fights. Party leaders said the decision was part of internal changes.
The Bharatiya Janata Party claimed Raghav was sidelined because he was “distancing himself” from party chief Kejriwal.
