Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday invoked recent movies to tear into Congress and the Left at an election rally in Keralam.
Modi said that even as they dismiss everything — from ‘The Kerala Story’, ‘The Kashmir Files’ to ‘Dhurandhar’ — as lies, it is these parties which have “become pros at lying.”
“The LDF and UDF have become pros at lying. They said Kerala Story is a lie, they said Kashmir Files is a lie, they said Dhurandhar is a lie,” the Prime Minister said in Tiruvalla.
As the BJP-led NDA aims to break the bipolar dominance of Pinarayi Vijayan-led ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Congress-spearheaded United Democratic Front (UDF) in Keralam, Modi sharpened his attack on the Opposition. He said Congress and the Left have become a “factory of lies,” accusing them of spreading panic over recent amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
“These days, they are spreading lies about the FCRA and UCC. Goa has had a UCC for decades, but they are spreading lies about it. They also did the same with the CAA. They are in the business of spreading lies,” Modi said.
Modi went further to accuse Congress of endangering the lives of nearly one crore Indians living in Iran and Gulf countries by making “provocative” remarks.
“To win elections, to hurl abuses at Modi, the Congress is ready to sit back and put the lives of 1 crore migrants in jeopardy,” the PM quipped, adding that Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu, Goa, Kerala, Telangana and Puducherry working in Iran are at risk.
Modi said the Central government is actively engaged in rescuing them, with hundreds having returned safely to India. “Their lives are precious to us,” Modi said, urging Congress to apologise to the people of Kerala for what he termed as selfish politics.
