Bhubaneswar: In a significant push to Odisha’s industrial journey, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 36 new projects worth Rs 40,811 crore.

The projects span diverse sectors including green energy equipment, metals and downstream industries, textiles and apparel, plastics, tourism, agriculture and food processing, defence production, IT, automobiles, and cement.

When operational, they are expected to generate more than 59,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across multiple districts.

“Odisha is moving with purpose from promise to performance, and from potential to prosperity. What we commit, we complete,” the Chief Minister said, underscoring the state’s strong commitment to industrial growth and timely execution.

Among the prominent companies participating in this industrial expansion are Ampin Solar One Private Limited, Calderys India Refractories Limited, Page Industries Ltd., Adani Enterprises Limited, KPR Mill Limited, Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Private Limited, ATC Tyres AP Pvt Ltd (Yokohama), Ambuja Concrete North Private Limited, Trimetro Garments India Pvt Ltd (EPIC Group Company), and Danieli Corus Refractory Solutions Pvt. Ltd., underscoring strong investor confidence from leading national and global players.

Marking a day of twin milestones, the Chief Minister attended two major programmes first at Bhuinpur in Khurda district, followed by the inauguration of a major textile manufacturing facility at Ramdaspur in Cuttack district.

At Bhuinpur, the programme was attended by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, MP Aparajita Sarangi, local MLAs, leading industry representatives and senior officials. The Chief Minister also chaired a high-level roundtable interaction with industry leaders, focusing on strengthening execution, addressing implementation challenges, and reinforcing Odisha’s investor facilitation framework.

A total of 34 projects were grounded and inaugurated at Bhuinpur, Begunia, Khurda, while 2 key projects were undertaken at Ramdaspur, Cuttack, with the combined events witnessing participation of more than 10,000 people, reflecting strong industry and public engagement.

Addressing the gathering at Bhuinpur, the Chief Minister emphasized that Odisha’s industrial growth is now firmly sanchored in execution, supported by a governance framework that prioritizes speed, transparency, and accountability. He highlighted that the State has successfully transitioned from an era of investment announcements to one of on-ground delivery, where projects are monitored in real time and supported through robust institutional mechanisms such as IPICOL at the State level and DIPA at the district level. He further noted that dedicated task force mechanisms are actively resolving implementation bottlenecks, ensuring that projects move seamlessly from approval to commissioning.

The Chief Minister also underlined the central role of youth in this transformation, stating that every investment is designed to create meaningful employment opportunities within the State. With sustained investments in skill development through institutions such as the World Skill Centre, ITIs, and technical institutes, Odisha is building a future-ready workforce aligned with industry needs.

Following the Bhuinpur programme, Majhi proceeded to Ramdaspur Industrial Area in Cuttack, where he inaugurated the manufacturing facility of Page Industries, marking a major milestone in Odisha’s textile and apparel sector. The newly inaugurated unit, with an investment of approximately Rs 750 crore, is expected to generate around 5,850 employment opportunities. In addition, the groundwork was laid for a second unit at Chhatabar in Khordha, involving an investment of around Rs 258 crore with employment potential of 3,500 jobs.

Addressing the gathering at Ramdaspur, the Chief Minister highlighted that Odisha is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for textile and apparel manufacturing, driven by a strong ecosystem encompassing skilled manpower, competitive infrastructure, and progressive policy support. He noted that the sector holds immense potential for large-scale employment generation, particularly for women and youth, and plays a critical role in fostering inclusive industrial growth in textile sector.
