Bhubaneswar: Sultry weather conditions are likely to return Odisha from April 11, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.

“Following two days of thunderstorm activity, daytime temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 4–6°C as a cyclonic circulation persists over Odisha, along with a north-south trough and wind discontinuity,” according to the midday bulletin.

On April 9, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) may occur in the
afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in districts of Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada. Similar weather condition with wind speed of 30-40 kmph may also persists in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.

The weather agency further stated that squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph may also prevail along & off the Odisha Coast during this period. Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea, which is likely to be rough to very rough.

On April 10, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) may continue in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.

A yellow warning of hot and humid conditions has been issued for isolated pockets in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati from April 11-15, with no large change thereafter.
