Bhubaneswar: A youth was critically injured after being allegedly attacked by his elder brother in Salia Sahi area of Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, Chitaranjan Samantaray along with his associates allegedly attacked his younger brother Niranjan using a sharp weapon at Mahabir Nagar square in Salia Sahi late on Friday night. Niranjan, who sustained grievous injury, managed to escape mid-attack and reached Nayapalli police station by taking a lift.
Nayapalli police immediately admitted him to Capital Hospital and informed his family. Niranjan has suffered around eight deep wounds on his body, including abdomen.
Their mother Jamuna Samantaray expressed shock at the attack and revealed her elder son had violent outbursts when drunk.
Family sources said Chitaranjan had left home to stay separately with his wife around three months back. Chitaranjan has been detained at Maitri Vihar police station, where he is being questioned.
Police have filed a case and investigation is underway into the circumstances leading to the violent confrontation.
