Tehran: Iran is said to have demanded war damage compensation from five countries in the region. The countries named were Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan.

According to reports, Iran’s representative to the UN has demanded compensation from the countries, saying they participated in the US and Israeli war effort against his country, as reported by timesnow.in.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA, citing comments from Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani, reported that war damage has been demanded.

These countries have “breached their international obligations toward the Islamic Republic of Iran under international law,” and should pay compensation for damages caused by the war, Iravani has been quoted as saying.

The countries have to “make full compensation for the damages caused to the Islamic Republic of Iran, including payment of compensation for all material and moral damages resulting from their international violations”, Iran has demanded.

Iran has accused multiple West Asian nations of facilitating US-Israeli attacks, since the war broke out on February 28. Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian asking neighbours not to let the United States and Israel “run” the ongoing war from their lands if they want “development” and “security.” Iran also fired drones and missiles on multiple regional countries in retaliation to the US-Israeli attacks.

Meanwhile, the situation continues to remain tense around the Strait of Hormuz with the US implementing a naval blockade on Iranian ports.

The blockade could push up oil prices further in the global market. It has also raised questions about whether Iran will buckle under pressure and throw open the Strait of Hormuz.
