Puri: Lifeguards at a beach in Odisha’s Puri averted a potential tragedy on Tuesday by rescuing a tourist from Bihar, who was dragged into deeper waters by strong waves while bathing.
The tourist, identified as Rajiv Patel from Masaurhi in Patna district, was bathing in the sea in front of NRS Hotel at Baliapanda sea beach area when he got caught in the currents and was pulled away from the shore. Beachgoers, who witnessed the incident immediately raised the alarm, prompting lifeguards on duty to launch a swift search and rescue mission.
Spotting the struggling tourist, the lifeguards swam out and managed to reach him. Patel was brought back to the shore and immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital here, where he is currently receiving treatment.
