Bhubaneswar: A family in Odisha’s Balasore district that tragically lost its elder son in the Subarnarekha River during Kartika Purnima is now enduring fresh anguish as rescue teams continue the search for their younger son.
The missing boy has been identified as 15-year-old Sunil Nath, a resident of Gobardhanpur village in Jaleswar tehsil.
According to sources, Sunil and four friends had swum across the river to attend a local mela. While returning, powerful currents suddenly swept him away as his companions. The friends managed to reach the bank safely and immediately raised an alarm, prompting villagers to alert Jaleswar police. A Fire Services team from Basta soon reached the river and launched an operation to locate him. Despite nearly a full day of intensive combing, the teenager has remained untraceable.
