Bhubaneswar: Sultry weather conditions along with thunderstorm activity may continue in Odisha till April 22, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
While hot and humid conditions are likely at isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati, the national forecaster has also warned of heatwave in Balangir, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts on April 18-19.
The IMD has also predicted a gradual rise in the day temperature by 2-3°C during the next 2 days. The maximum temperature is unlikely to witness any large change during the subsequent 2 days and again rise by 2-3°C thereafter across the state.
On April 16, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj & Balasore. Similar weather with winds at 30-40 kmph is also likely in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Kandhamal.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) may continue in the afternoon/evening hours in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda,
Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati on April 17-18.
Similar weather conditions may prevail in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati on April 19; Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati on April 20; and Koraput and Malkangiri on April 21.
