New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: In a repeat performance, Bhavesh Patra from Bhubaneswar has secured a perfect 100 percentile in JEE (Main) 2026 Session II (BE/BTech), emerging as the state topper from Odisha.
Bhavesh is among only 26 students across India to achieve the flawless National Testing Agency (NTA) score in this session, the results of which was declared on April 20.
This marks a remarkable “double” for the young achiever, who had also scored 100 percentile in Session I held in January 2026, making him the first student from Odisha to accomplish this feat in both sessions of the country’s largest engineering entrance exam. His All India Rank stands at 13, with a state rank of 1.
Bhavesh, a Class 12 student of Cohen International School in Bhubaneswar, is the son of Biswajit Patra, a Chartered Accountant, and Jayashree Patra. He credited his success to disciplined preparation, consistency, parental support, and guidance from his faculty.
In interviews following his Session I success, Bhavesh emphasised quality over quantity in study hours: “Having a clear goal keeps you motivated… I focused on clarity and consistency rather than merely counting study hours. Dividing time effectively among Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics helped strengthen concepts and avoid last-minute pressure.” He typically dedicated 10-12 hours daily, prioritised regular mock tests and revisions, and balanced preparation with his upcoming board exams while aiming for JEE Advanced.
Aryasmman Pradhan, another student from the school, bagged state rank-3, scoring 99.97 percentile, the school authorities said.
Around 11 lakh students appeared for JEE (Main) Session II, which was conducted from April 2 to 8 in computer-based test (CBT) mode across 584 centres nationwide. The examination was held in 13 languages, including Odia.
