Jaipur: Indian cricket’s boy wonder Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to amaze us as he grows from strength to strength.
In his latest gem, at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday, Vaibhav smashed a century in 36 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad, clobbering 5 fours and a dozen sixes! His blitzkrieg helped Rajasthan Royals amass 228/6 in 20 overs.
It was the third-fastest century in IPL history, as the left-hander bettered his 2025 hundred (against Gujarat Titans) by one ball.
The only man to have reached three figures quicker than Vaibhav is Chris Gayle (30 balls).
Vaibhav reached 50 in 15 balls, the third time he has done so in this edition.
And to think that Vaibhav’s age is 15 years and 29 days!
Commentators have been running out of adjectives describing Vaibhav’s shotmaking and quickfire knocks.
As he reached 100 with a six off fellow-Bihar cricketer Sakib Hussain, legendary South African pacer exploded on the microphone.
“He’s a little legend in the making,” Steyn gushed.
Vaibhav, who celebrated by making a love sign and then a salute, also took over the Orange Cap as the top run-getter till now. The explosive southpaw currently has a tally of 357 runs in eight matches, at a staggering strike rate of 230.
He added one more record under his cap, becoming the youngest to reach 1,000 T20 runs.
