Bangkok: Netizens are calling it the ‘funniest heist ever.’
A video showing a huge elephant calmly strolling into a convenience store has taken the internet by storm.
The pachyderm is seen using its trunk to collect snacks from the shelves.
Having managed to grab bags of sweet rice crackers, a sandwich and bananas, the wild elephant munches happily for a few moments before backing out of the store.
In less than a minute, it has completed its goal without a bother in the world, and oblivious of the human beings around him inside the store. There is no panic, with store keepers and others seeming to be at peace with the elephant, giving it space and allowing it to take whatever it wants!

According to locals, the elephant named Plai Biang Tek is a familiar face in the area, located near a national park. It’s known for wandering into human spaces and looking for a quick treat. The elephant’s ‘shopping spree’ was worth $25, and the bill was covered by a wildlife protection organisation so that the store owners won’t target the animal.
The video was loved across the board, and attracted funny and humorous reactions.
“The funniest heist ever,” commented one user.
“Lol … in all fairness, I would have grabbed a bottle or two on the way out as well,” joked one person.
Someone linked the incident with the classic pun: “Should we address the elephant in the room?”
One netizen brought up the jumbo insurance clause. “Is there even a Jumbo accident clause in any insurance contract😂”
