Angul: Three workers reportedly died following a mishap while carrying out a maintenance work at a private sponge iron factory in Odisha’s Angul district.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at the plant located in Paranga area of the district.
Sources said the mishap took place while the workers were engaged in machine cleaning and maintenance work in the plant. During the process, three labourers sustained critical injuries.
The workers were immediately rushed to a hospital in Hindol for treatment. However, all three workers died before they could be shifted to Cuttack for better treatment.
The deceased workers, who hailed from Sundargarh district, have been identified as Mangal Majhi, Pintu Kumar, and Sridhar Bagei.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced suggesting attempts to suppress details related to the mishap.
Following the incident, police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the mishap. Further details are awaited.
