Sambalpur: Another notorious criminal was injured after being shot during a special operation conducted by police in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday.
Sources said the encounter took place in Mochibahal area under the jurisdiction of Charmal Police Station. The injured criminal has been identified as Bunty Suna.
After launching a special operation, a police team intercepted Suna and an exchange of fire erupted. During the encounter, Suna sustained a bullet injury to his left leg. He was shifted to Burla Hospital for treatment.
Police sources said Suna was involved in several criminal activities, including illegal possession of arms and drug trafficking. He reportedly has around 16 criminal cases registered against him across Sambalpur and Balangir districts.
The encounter comes a day after a police operation in Sambalpur in which dreaded criminal Manish Sahu was injured in police firing in Burla.
