Balasore: Odisha Police have arrested a man from Jamshedpur for allegedly posting obscene photos and videos of his wife on social media after she refused to accept his proposal.
The man, identified as Bishwanath Giri of Taladhanada village in Odisha’s Balasore district, has also been accused of forcing his wife to have physical relations with other men by threatening to make the visuals viral.
Sources said Bishwanath took his wife to Jamshedpur after their marriage and both lived there together.
It was alleged that Bishwanath recorded intimate moments with his wife on his mobile phone without her knowledge. He then allegedly asked her to establish physical relations with other men. He threatened to upload the photos and videos on social media when she refused.
The two often entered into quarrels over the issue before the woman returned to her village. After her departure, Bishwanath allegedly created fake Facebook accounts and uploaded the obscene photos and videos featuring her.
The woman lodged complaints with Baliapal Police and the Balasore Cyber Police after she learnt about it. Based on her complaints and preliminary probe, a police team arrested the accused from Jamshedpur.
The woman has further alleged that Bishwanath, along with his associate Vivek Ashank, was running a hotel business in Jamshedpur, apart from being involved in several illegal activities. Further investigation by the police is in progress.
