Jabalpur (MP): In a major development in the Twisha Sharma death case, her husband Samarth Singh surrendered in Jabalpur District Court on Friday after being on the run for 10 days, reported India Today.
Earlier in the day, his lawyer told the Madhya Pradesh High Court that accused Samarth was ready to surrender immediately.
The High Court allowed Samarth to surrender before the trial court or Katara police station in Bhopal, and adjourned the hearing till Monday.
“He will surrender immediately. He has to prepare for his wife’s last rites,” Samarth’s counsel said.
The court was also informed that the accused will withdraw the anticipatory bail plea.
The case has been making headlines across India after Twisha’s family accused her in-laws of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide ever since the 33-year-old Noida woman was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12.
Samarth’s family, however, claimed Twisha was addicted to drugs.
Twisha’s family refused to accept the post-mortem report, which concluded that she died by suicide it, and alleged foul play.
On Friday, the court agreed to a second autopsy which Twisha’s father, the petitioner, had been seeking.
The lawyer of Giribala Singh, Twisha’s mother-in-law, had opposed the demand for a second autopsy, arguing that the post-mortem had already been conducted by doctors at AIIMS and questioning why another examination was needed.
