Bhopal: Twisha Sharma was finally cremated in Bhopal on Sunday evening, 12 days after she died due to alleged dowry harassment, sending shockwaves through the country.
The body of the 33-year-old model-turned actor lay in a mortuary of AIIMS Bhopal for days as her family cried foul, alleging tampering of evidence and demanding a second post-mortem.
Two days ago, the Madhya Pradesh High Court approved the family’s petition and directed a specialised team of doctors from AIIMS Delhi to conduct a fresh autopsy in Bhopal.
Shortly after the second post-mortem was completed by a four-member team from AIIMS Delhi around 4 pm, Twisha’s body was handed over to her family.
Her last rites were performed at the Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat.

Twisha, who hailed from Noida, was found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Bhopal on May 12. Her family alleged that Twisha was subjected to mental harassment over dowry demands, her in-laws said it was a suicide case and that she was addicted to drugs.
Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh, a lawyer, and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge, have been named as accused in the case.
Samarth surrendered and was arrested in Jabalpur on Friday after absconding for 10 days. He was taken into custody and brought to Bhopal, where a court here sent him to seven days of police custody.
