Patna: The elder brother of popular Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi was critically injured after miscreants attacked him with sharp weapons in Bihar.
Bijendra Nath Tiwari has now been shifted to a hospital in Patna. The police have made one arrest in this connection.
A special team has been formed by the Bihar Police to investigate the matter and arrest those responsible, a senior official said, as reported by News18.
Tiwari was first taken to a local hospital before being shifted to Patna for advanced medical care. His condition was reportedly considered critical, leading doctors to refer him to a higher medical facility.
An old rivalry over a land dispute is suspected to be behind the attack. The family has, however, remained tight-lipped on the matter.
The incident took place in Belsand village, which falls under the Madhopur police station area in Bihar. It has been reported that the attack was connected to a long-standing dispute.
The accused were allegedly waiting in the village before attacking Tiwari with sharp weapons. Family members first rushed him to Model Sadar Hospital. Doctors there provided emergency treatment and are said to have described his condition as extremely serious before recommending that he be moved to Patna.
The police are conducting raids as part of the effort to identify and apprehend the accused. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses and officials gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
