Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for five districts of Odisha till around 6.30 pm on Wednesday.
Moderate thunderstorms, rain, lightning with surface wind speed 50-60 kmph may occur at isolated places over Nabarangpur, Khordha, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamala in the next 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lighting strikes.
According to the IMD’s midday bulletin, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may occur at one or two places in the districts of Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on June 24. Similar weather conditions with wind speed of 40-50 kmph is also likely in Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Koraput. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) may also occur in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundargada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada.
There is also a warning for heavy rain at one or places in Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada and Koraput
