Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for 15 districts of Odisha till 10.17 pm on Wednesday.
Moderate rain may occur at a few places in the districts of Anugola, Baleshwar, Kataka, Debagada, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghapur, Jajpur, Kendujhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Sambalpur and Sundargada during this period.
Odisha has been experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall due to the low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coasts. The system is expected to become well marked and move northwestwards across North Odisha & Gangetic West Bengal during next 2 day
In its midday weather bulletin, the weather agency issued a red warning of heavy to very heavy rain at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in the districts of Jagatsinghapur, and Puri in next 24 hours. Similarly, heavy to very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Kataka, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudhagad, Kandhamala, Khordha, Nayagada, and Ganjam.
The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for the districts of Baleshwar, Sundargada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Sonpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Gajapati.
On July 16-17, orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for the districts of Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj.
