Angul: Rescued teams are yet to locate a 14-year-old schoolboy, who fell into the Brahmani from a railway bridge while filming a social media reel in Odisha’s Anugola district, even after a gruelling 12-hour search which began on Sunday.
The incident took place near Jagannath Temple in Samal area under Kaniha block. The missing youth has been identified as Subhranshu Pradhan, a Class 9 student and resident of Bilinda village.
According to sources, the teenager had gathered at the elevated railway tracks with a group of friends on a weekend outing to record short video content for Instagram. While attempting to shoot the reel on the bridge, the minor reportedly lost his footing and fell into the river below. His friends immediately raised an alarm for help as the strong currents quickly swept him away.
Alerted by the locals, personnel from Samal police station and Kaniha Fire Services rushed to the spot. Divers and emergency responders are combing the river to trace the missing student, with intensive efforts still underway at the time of reporting.
