Dhenkanal: A lightning strike claimed the lives of a father-son duo at Balipada village under Kamakhyanagar police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Santosh Dehury (55) and his son Satyanarayan Dehury (24).
According to reports, lightning struck Santosh and Satyanarayan while they were transplanting saplings on their paddy field in the afternoon. Both victims collapsed at the spot. Villagers and family members rushed the duo to Kamakhyanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
The sudden demise of two members of a family has cast a pall of gloom over Balipada village.
Meanwhile, Kamakhyanagar police have seized the bodies and sent them for postmortem. A probe is underway into the incident.
