New Delhi: In a major relief for Salman Khan, the Delhi High Court has ordered the removal of the teaser and several online links related to the upcoming Hindi film ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy’.
The court observed that the promotional material prima facie appeared to associate the actor with the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, potentially harming his reputation.
While hearing Salman’s plea seeking an interim injunction against the film’s release and promotional activities, Justice Jyoti Singh indicated that interviews given by producer Amit Jani could also be ordered to be removed from public platforms.
“This must stop,” the court orally remarked during the proceedings, stressing, “Reputation once lost is lost.”
The court further observed that the promotional material appeared to link Salman to the controversy surrounding gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Bishnoi has repeatedly targeted the actor in recent years, issuing several death threats and demanding that Salman apologise over his alleged involvement in the blackbuck poaching case.
Salman’s plea argued that the film’s teaser, posters and other promotional material unmistakably point to him, despite not naming him directly.
It further claimed that the teaser features a lookalike wearing the actor’s trademark blue bracelet, making the character readily identifiable to the public.
The plea also argued that the promotional material created a misleading impression about Salman, particularly since he had been acquitted in the Arms Act case linked to the 1998 blackbuck poaching incident.
