Bengaluru: Serious hygiene issues and quality violations have been exposed following food safety raids at hotels, restaurants, resorts and public food facilities across Karnataka. Authorities have seized large quantities of expired and unsafe food items, reports claims. The authorities have issued multiple notices to establishments found violating regulations. Stale meat was also seized from an outlet of KFC in Mangaluru, reported Times Now.

Food safety officials conducted checks in Mysuru city and district on Saturday. At the Rio Meridian Hotel, authorities seized 9 kg of chicken after finding it beyond its expiry date, reported India Today. Inspections at four other hotels led to the seizure of 68 kg of meat from the Grand Mercure Hotel. About 4 kg of mushrooms were confiscated from Q Star Hotel.
Separate inspection drives were conducted in Mysuru and Nanjangud. Three resorts were served with notices. Officials collected five food samples for laboratory analysis and around 16 kg of expired and perishable food items were discarded during the operation.
These raids come as part of a wider campaign by the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration Department to ensure compliance with food safety norms across the state.
