Ranchi: Stepping up its drive against competitive-exam fraud, the Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested the wife and brother of Abhay Tiwari, a former marketing manager at TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL) and a main accused in the exam scam.”

The two are being interrogated over their suspected involvement in the recruitment scam and possible gains from the compromised selection process. Tiwari, already in judicial custody, remains a central figure in the CID’s expanding investigation.

These arrests come as the state confronts mounting questions about alleged manipulation in recruitment tests outsourced to TDPL and other agencies, with investigators probing whether Tiwari’s relatives secured government posts through examinations that may have been tampered with., as reported by India Today.

Focus On Tiwari’s Dual Role

Tiwari’s position has become a focal point of the CID’s probe. Investigators allege he operated simultaneously as TDPL’s marketing manager and authorised representative while also appearing in — and clearing — multiple competitive examinations.

According to the CID, records indicate he qualified in several Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) and Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) exams, along with a host of other tests. His personal exam history is now being scrutinised alongside his purported role in the recruitment racket, as reported by India Today.

TDPL Under Intense Scrutiny

The agency, which conducted the 14th JPSC Civil Services Examination, is facing intense examination of its past record and its participation in other recruitment processes. The CID has been sifting through exam data, digital evidence and the roles of officials and private individuals allegedly tied to the system.

Student Protests Force Govt Hand

The widening probe unfolds against the backdrop of a sustained student movement in Jharkhand. Aspirants had been on the streets since July 25, demanding the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination, stiff action against those responsible for alleged irregularities and an independent CBI probe. The agitation lasted 24 days, with student leaders resorting to hunger strikes.

On Monday, the Jharkhand government declared that all examinations conducted through TDPL, along with the results published by the agency, would stand cancelled. It also ordered a CID investigation into examinations conducted through TDPL since 2014.
