Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for six districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswwar and Kataka, till 4.15 pm on Friday.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in the districts of Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kataka (including Kataka city), Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), Jagatsinghpur, and Puri. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening and plan accordingly for their safety.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) is also likely in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada till 8.30 am on Saturday.
According to the IMD, heavy rain may resume in Odisha from Saturday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over north Bay of Bengal & adjoining Bangladesh. Intense rainfall activity is likely on August 24-25-26-27 with orange warning issued for Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts.
