Bhubaneswar: Tension mounted in Barang area, on outskirts of Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday after skeletal remains of a young man, who had been missing for nearly three weeks, were found inside a locked house near Ramdaspur Electricity Department office.
The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Nayak from Gadisahi Village, who had reportedly disappeared on July 28 following a domestic dispute. His family had filed a missing person report at the local Godisahi police outpost after failing to locate him.
The mystery surrounding Nayak’s sudden disappearance took a grim turn this morning when local residents spotted the body hanging from a rope inside an abandoned structure and alerted Barang police, who along with personnel from Gosai outpost reached the spot. The body had almost turned into a skeleton. His father, Tukuna Nayak, identified the skeletal remains as those of his son, following which it was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka for postmortem.
A scientific team and forensic experts have been called to inspect the site and gather physical evidence.
Police stated that all angles are being investigated to establish whether the death was a suicide or homicide, noting that further details will emerge once the forensic report is finalized and the investigation concludes.
