Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for nine districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Kataka, till around 6 pm on Thursday.
Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning may occur in the districts of Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), Kataka (including Kataka city), Jajpur, Puri, Debagada, Anugola, Kendrapada, Ganjam, and Nayagada during the next 3 hours. Residents in the affected areas have been advised to monitor local weather conditions closely for potential deterioration and plan their activities to ensure safety during potential lightning strikes and downpours.
The warning comes even as the IMD indicated possible formation of a fresh low pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and north Odisha coasts around August 29. While several parts of Odisha are expected to receive heavy rainfall on August 27, an orange warning has been issued for Baleshwar and Mayurbhanj districts, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely.
