New Delhi: Giorgia Meloni’s camaraderie and bonhomie with Narendra Modi is the toast of internet every time they have met at political conclaves or for bilateral meetings.
This time, there was no face-to-face interaction, but a warm online greeting.
As Meloni became the longest-serving Italian PM since World War II, the Indian Prime Minister posted a heartfelt message for his friend on his social media handle.
“I congratulate my friend, Prime Minister Meloni, on becoming the Prime Minister with the longest mandate in the history of postwar Italy. This milestone reflects the trust that the Italian people place in her leadership. Her friendship has also been instrumental in strengthening the Special Strategic Partnership between India and Italy, and I look forward to continuing our close collaboration to build a prosperous future for the citizens of our countries. My best wishes for her continued success in the years ahead,” Modi wrote on X.
In a country that had been known for its political instability, Meloni overtook former Italy PM Silvio Berlusconi’s record, set in 2005, of 1,412 consecutive days, as per Reuters.
