Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have arrested four people, including two women, for allegedly stripping and assaulting a woman over unpaid loan interest, filming the act and threatening to make the video viral.
The accused have been identified as Nazrath Begam, Reshma Banu, her husband Suhel and Saif. A case (Crime No. 283/2026) has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 66(E) of the IT Act.
Loan Dispute
The woman told police she had borrowed ₹50,000 from Nazrath on a weekly instalment plan and another ₹1 lakh from Reshma at monthly interest about two years ago. She said she missed recent instalments due to financial difficulties, as reported by DNA.
On August 27, Nazrath allegedly called her to a house in Metro Layout, promising work and money. The woman arrived around 5.30 pm with her minor son.
Assault And Captivity
Once inside, Reshma, Suhel and two others allegedly entered, locked the door and assaulted her. The accused demanded ₹11 lakh, including interest, threatened her with a knife and damaged her mobile phone, the FIR states.
Later that evening, the woman and her child were allegedly forced into an auto and taken to a house in Kumbalagodu, where she was confined to a room, beaten with a stick and verbally abused, she alleged.
Semi-Naked Video, Threats
On August 29, the accused allegedly forced her to undress and recorded a video of her in a semi-naked condition, threatening to make it viral if she failed to pay. Suhel also allegedly threatened to push her into prostitution to recover the loan, the complaint says.
Her son was sent back to her mother’s house the same day, while she remained confined. On August 30, she was allegedly taken to a lawyer near City Market and made to sign documents.
Rescue & Case Filed
Police reached the Kumbalagodu house on the afternoon of August 31 following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.
The woman was taken to Chandra Layout Police Station, where her statement was recorded. Police said the investigation is underway.
