Brahmapur: Odisha is witnessing strong economic growth and has enormous potential to accelerate its development across sectors, SAIL Chairman and Managing Director Ashok Kumar Panda said on Monday.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Ganjam Chamber of Commerce here, Panda said Odisha’s rich mineral resources, growing industrial base and coastline provide a strong foundation for sustained economic expansion. From mineral production and aluminium to steel and logistics, the State has significant opportunities for further growth.
Focusing on Ganjam, he said the district has a vibrant economy and considerable scope for expansion. Its coastal location and proximity to the Bay of Bengal offer major opportunities in logistics, industrialisation and related sectors. Effective utilisation of government policies, he said, could make Ganjam’s economy even stronger.
Panda said India’s steel capacity is expected to rise substantially in the coming years, creating new opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and ancillary industries. Power, hydrogen and green technologies would also open up fresh avenues.
Calling upon Odisha’s youth to take advantage of the emerging opportunities, he urged them to change their mindset and pursue creative and innovative ideas rather than limiting themselves to conventional career options.
A son of Brahmapur, Panda said he felt proud of his association with the city and thanked the Chamber for inviting him to interact with local stakeholders.
V Santosh Kumar, president, and Tangudu Rahul, honorary secretary of Ganjam Chamber of Commerce, welcomed Panda.
