New Delhi/Gurugram: Gurugram biker and Instagram creator Sia, known online as rebelwheels_sia_, has hit back at accused driver Kalyan Bainsla, asking why he never stopped after the crash if he truly felt “sorry” for her and saying she “could have died on the spot”.
“If you felt so sorry for me, then why didn’t you stop? I could have died on the spot,” she said in her first video reaction to the incident.
Her nearly three-minute clip directly counters Bainsla’s interview remarks, where he claimed he did not know whether the rider was a man or a woman, insisted only one side of the story had been aired, and said, “I felt very sorry for that girl.”
‘Who Was Trying To Corner Whom?’
Sia dismissed his version that the bikers were “repeatedly speeding up and slowing down”, saying her footage tells a different story.
“He is saying that we were repeatedly speeding up and slowing down on the road. But I think my entire video clearly shows who was actually trying to corner whom.”
She questioned the logic of the car’s occupants continuing to tail them if they genuinely believed the bikers were riding erratically, as reported by NDTV.
“If you felt we were speeding up and slowing down repeatedly, then what was the reason for chasing me throughout the route?”
She also rejected his claim of not realising a woman was on the bike.
“That is simply not possible. You saw my hair. You came close to me. You made gestures. You signalled for me to stop the bike. And now you are saying you did not even know a woman was riding it.”
‘Are Those Two Videos Still Not Enough?’
Bainsla has pointed to the presence of about 22–23 people and asked why only two videos have surfaced. Sia said she cannot comprehend why those two clips would be insufficient in a hit-and-run case.
“I do not understand why those two videos are not enough in a hit-and-run case.”
She described what each recording shows: one captures the car cutting from the front lane into the third lane before striking her and fleeing; the other, from her own camera, shows the vehicle shifting from the first to the third lane, hitting her, dragging her along, and then her falling on the road.
“In one video, you can see the car moving into the third lane and hitting me before fleeing. In the other video from my camera, you can see the car come from the first lane to the third lane, hit me, drag me along, and then I fell on the road. Are those two videos still not enough for you?”
She said the way he acted after the crash shows he did not really feel sorry for her.
“If you really felt sorry for me, then why didn’t you stop? It was your responsibility. If you hit me, you should have stopped and checked whether I was injured.”
“I could have suffered much more serious injuries. My bones could have been broken. I could have died on the spot.”
“This display of sympathy does not suit him. The videos clearly show how they fled. They did not stop even for a second to check whether the person they had hit was alive or dead.”
Sia added that such behaviour leaves women feeling unsafe in the National Capital Region.
“I feel ashamed of people who say their families are suffering because of this. I do not think such people ever stop to think that they also have sisters and women in their families. Women feel extremely unsafe because of behaviour like this in Delhi and Gurugram.”
Sia was riding her Aprilia RS 457 with friends on Sunday morning when a white car allegedly began following them, with its occupants acting aggressively and appearing drunk before the crash. She has complained to Gurugram Police, alleging harassment and a hit-and-run on September 13 around 7:00 am as she headed to Biker Barn Cafe.
