Mumbai: Dipika Kakar is set to return to acting with a music video alongside her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, after taking a break from work amid her ongoing treatment.
The actor has already begun dance rehearsals for the project, but said she is not ready to take on the demanding schedule of a daily soap.
In her latest vlog, Dipika opened up about her comeback plans and explained why a television daily is currently not feasible for her.
She also spoke about her weight loss and the impact of her treatment on her stamina.
Talking about her return to acting, Dipika said, “It’s just that dekho, is waqt meri condition dekhte hue daily toh mujhe nahi lagta main kar paungi (Considering my condition at this point, I don’t think I will be able to do a daily soap). And obviously matlab koi mujhe aise treatment ke saath koi mujhe cast kyun karega? I mean, it’s very obvious (And obviously, why would anyone cast me while I am undergoing this kind of treatment?).”
She added, “It’s okay. Ismein koi sochne wali baat hi nahi hai, kyunki treatment hai, side effects hote hain, so that’s okay (It’s okay. There is nothing to think about because it is treatment and there are side effects, so that’s okay). But gaana ek din ka shoot definitely manage kiya ja sakta hai (But a song can definitely be managed with a one-day shoot).”
Reflecting on returning to dance rehearsals after a long break, Dipika said she had to take a break every 10 minutes.
The experience made her realise how much her stamina had been affected.
The actor also revealed that the song has already been filmed and said she is feeling both nervous and excited about returning to the screen.
Dipika was diagnosed with Stage 2 liver cancer in 2025 and underwent surgery to remove a liver tumour in June that year.
She has since been sharing updates about her treatment and recovery through her vlogs.
In February 2026, she underwent another procedure after a liver cyst was detected, followed by monitoring of two additional small cysts.
She later began immunotherapy and has spoken about treatment-related side effects, including nausea, vomiting, fatigue and loss of appetite.
