Puri: Public darshan of the sibling deities at Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri will remain suspended for six hours for the observance of Bamana Janma Niti on the auspicious occasion of Bhadraba Shukla Dwadashi on Wednesday.
According to an official notice issued by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), public darshan will be suspended from 5 pm to 11 pm to enable the smooth, hassle-free execution of the sacred Bamana Janma Niti (the ritual marking the birth of Lord Vamana).
Sources said the temporary restriction will take effect after the completion of the Madhyanha Dhupa (afternoon food offering) rituals.
Much like the grand birth celebrations of Lord Rama (Sri Ram Janma) and Lord Krishna (Sri Krishna Janma), the Bamana Janma Niti is performed with elaborate Vedic traditions and unique divine protocols inside the 12th-century shrine.
Bhadraba Shukla Dwadashi is celebrated across the country as the incarnation day of Lord Vamana—the fifth avatar of Lord Vishnu, who appeared to restore order to the universe by humbling King Mahabali. At Srimandir, Lord Jagannath is worshipped as Maha Vishnu, the source of all ten avatars. Observing the Lord in his Bamana incarnation holds immense spiritual significance for devotees.
The SJTA has requested devotees to take note of the temporary suspension and adjust their travel and darshan plans accordingly. Regular rituals and general public access are expected to resume once the sacred birth ceremonies conclude.
