New Delhi: A video shared on social media shows Delhi PWD minister Parvesh Verma slapping a man who was recording a road inspection in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar.
Verma is seen pulling down the man’s mobile phone with his left hand and slapping him across the face with his right hand. As the man tries to confront the minister, a security guard steps between the two as the angry crowd around them absorbs the shocking incident.

The ‘confrontation’ took place as Verma and AAP MLA Jarnail Singh argued over the quality of road construction in the area.
The man, identified as Jarnail’s aide Sahib Singh, was recording the exchange between the former and Verma.
The minister and Jarnail were inspecting a road in the Tilak Nagar Assembly constituency, trading accusations over its construction.
Jarnail even lifted chunks of the surface by pulling the newly-paved road with his hand.
Challenging Verma, the AAP MLA said, “Aapne jo sadak boli woh ukhad ke dikha di, ab batao.”
Verma, with his arm around the AAP MLA, retorted, “Galat nahi bolna… Aapne 15 saal mein sadak nahi banayi, ab hum bana rahe hain.”
As Verma walked away from the spot, Jarnail followed him while holding chunks of the road.
Verma then turned towards Jarnail’s aide, who was continuing to record the incident, and slapped him.
Sahib later said he was live-streaming the conversation between Verma and Jarnail when the minister intervened.
“At that time, I was live-streaming on the MLA’s page. To stop the ongoing live stream, Parvesh Verma snatched the phone from my hand, raised his hand at me and slapped me,” Sahib said.
He alleged that security personnel accompanying the minister also pushed him and threatened him. Sahib said he had filed a complaint with the police and provided the names of those involved.
“Action must be taken. We have lodged an FIR and will pursue further action,” he said.
AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal demanded the resignation of the minister.
AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj called Verma’s behaviour shameful and vulgar. “Verma is a coward,” he wrote on X.
Jarnail labelled Verma’s conduct as “thuggery.”
